Luce Solida

At this year’s Art Basel Gallotti&Radice will showcase in their Miami flagship store Luce Solida, an artistic installation by designer and decorator Pietro Russo. Unveiled at Milan Design Week in April and showcased in the UK for London Design Festival 2018, Luce Solida will travel for the first time in the US exclusively accompanied by the designer. Russo’s site-specific installation originated by the desire to create an innovative and futuristic design yet honor the brand’s origins. The outcome is a unique sensory experience intended to evoke a feeling of poetic disorientation in which visitors can explore the space to the accompaniment of sound effects composed by the designer. Approaching the installation as both a designer and a scenographer, Russo explores the relation of objects to light thus creating a dialogue between the space and the avant-gard pieces designed for the brand in the course of their ongoing collaboration.

Luce Solida embodies and represents the values, passions, and beliefs both Pietro Russo and Gallotti&Radice share in their practice. To reinterpret Italian design traditions in a contemporary key, strengthening the links between design, art, and craftsmanship. To explore uncharted territories in order to create new, unconventional narratives. Because the unexpected is not a limit. It is an unmistakable symptom of vitality. And mostly, that innovation is driven by the cross-pollination of different disciplines and methods. Because design is not a destination. It is an attitude.

Pietro Russo works as an interior and product designer in his Milan-based atelier, together with a team of experts and in close partnership with a network of skilled Italian artisans. He has been called by the press «homo faber of the design industry», for his ability to combine his passion and creative exuberance with a meticulous manufacturing procedure, always looking for the perfect balance between the imaginary and the earthly dimensions.

Trusting his instinct, Pietro experiments tirelessly and is committed to long-lasting explorations of major topics – such as science fiction, art and music seductions, sound, geometry, and the power of light –, in an endless attempt to transform concepts and emotions, with his own hands, into one-of-a-kind objects and interiors designed like a real scenography.
